Grangefield’s Wedding Photography
Bev and Andy…what a fantastic wedding you guys had. Bev and Andy have been together for 20 years, and seriously can’t get over how much love these guys have and how easy it was to capture this on the images throughout their day. I first met Bev at Grangefields wedding fair, and we instantly got on. I knew I desperately wanted to shoot Bev and Andy’s wedding. All bridal prep occurred in the Breadsall Priory Marriot Hotel near the venue. Bev’s wedding dress was from a shop in Derby called Mimi Toko, and she looked breathtaking. As most of Bev and Andy’s guests were also staying in the Marriott hotel, they arranged a double-decker bus to take all of their guests to Grangefields.
I love details like this at weddings; they also make some great images. With the quartet welcoming guests to their seats, the ceremony could begin…The isle at Grangefields is just stunning, so when both of their sons gave Bev away, this moment was undoubtedly emotional. And as if the aisle wasn’t enough… the speech their son made was just excellent. After Bev and Andy gave it some oomph back down the aisle as Mr and Mrs … the reception drinks and mingling began. After lots of hugs, tears and laughter, it was time for a feast! The surprise singing waiters, which even Andy had no idea about, created an electric atmosphere and set the tone for the rest of the evening. The guests’ reactions were priceless, and they made some fantastic documentary shots. Between traditions such as speeches, first dances and cake cutting- which may I add, the cake was beautifully designed by Julia Florence cake designs Bev and Andy had games for their guests to play. Details like this create a cool, relaxed day that guests will remember.
Most of the portraits of Bev and Andy were captured in a golden hour, which is just every photographer’s dream. The softness and warmth of the light create such gorgeous imagery. Portraits can be daunting, and something couples fear; however, I only take my couples for around ten minutes and let you guys be yourselves and enjoy a moment together. And often, the moments in between create the best portraits. The homemade wood-fired pizzas brought out gradually throughout the evening ensured no guest was ever going hungry… including myself. I love a fluffy pizza base! The music for the night provided by The Jersey Quartet from Micheal Quinn Productions was fantastic. Literally, everyone got up and had a boogie. Once the amazing festoon lights and fire pits were lit, I set a shot up before I grabbed Bev and Andy, meaning they were only away from their guests for around two minutes.
