A Tipi Wedding With Aussie Twists & Hollywood Glamour
If there’s one thing I love, it’s a wedding that feels as fun as it looks. Laura and Chris, my fabulous bride and groom, brought the perfect mix of Yorkshire charm and Aussie spirit to their big day at the stunning Woodsome Hall Golf Club in good old Yorkshire. With their adorable boys by their side and a tribe of amazing family and friends cheering them on, this was a wedding to remember!
Nestled in the heart of West Yorkshire, Woodsome Hall Golf Club, isn’t just a stunning wedding venue, it’s steeped in history. The Grade I listed clubhouse dates back to the 16th century, offering a perfect blend of charm and grandeur. The sprawling golf course provides breathtaking views and vibrant green backdrops, making it a dream setting for wedding photography. Located near Huddersfield, this hidden gem is surrounded by rolling countryside, giving couples that perfect mix of elegance and nature. Whether you’re a golf enthusiast or just appreciate a beautiful venue, Woodsome Hall has it all!

Yorkshire Wedding Photographer
Honestly we couldn’t recommend Sarah enough, she was incredible and delivered us the most beautiful photos that captured our day perfectly! Sarah was so friendly and kind, she really fitted in and just felt like an additional guest. What I loved most is that we were barely away from our guests, Sarah was so efficient and organised. We are so grateful for what an amazing job she did. Laura & Chris

My Approach to Wedding Photography
There’s one thing I refuse to do, it’s settle for the ordinary. After a decade of shooting weddings, I’ve mastered my camera inside out, but instead of getting comfortable, I push harder. I’m always seeking that different angle, the unexpected perspective, the kind of shot that makes you stop, stare, and feel something deep in your bones.
Composition is my playground. I don’t just point and shoot, I sculpt with light, I frame with intention, and I layer to create depth. I’ll crouch, climb, twist, and sometimes even dangle (safely, of course) just to capture a moment in a way no one else has. My goal? To create images that are not only beautiful but that tell your story in a way that feels dynamic, immersive, and entirely unique to you.
I live for that perfect interplay of light and shadow, that sliver of golden hour or the dramatic contrast of a silhouette against a stormy sky. I know exactly when to let motion blur whisper the energy of a moment and when to freeze-frame a split-second expression that speaks volumes. It’s about balance, technical precision meets artistic freedom.
Over the years, I’ve honed techniques that make my work stand out, shooting through objects for depth, using reflections to add dimension, and incorporating foreground elements that draw the eye exactly where I want it. I love playing with negative space, symmetry, and unconventional crops to turn a fleeting moment into a striking visual composition.
Every wedding is a playground of new opportunities, and I challenge myself to see it differently every time. Because why settle for standard when you can create something extraordinary?
Morning Shenanigans
Laura started her morning at her sister’s house, which, conveniently, was just a stone’s throw from the church. Honestly, there’s something magical about brides walking to the church with their nearest and dearest, it feels so timeless. The house was buzzing with excitement, hairspray in the air, Prosecco flowing, and the usual last-minute dashes to find something.
Meanwhile, Chris and his groomsmen took a more “traditional” route, meeting at the pub next to the church. Classic. Pints in hand, banter flying, and a few rounds of “men doing men stuff” (which largely involved adjusting ties and pretending they weren’t nervous). After some quick snaps of the lads being, well, lads, it was time for the main event.
A Heartfelt Ceremony & The Walk of Cheers
Laura’s bridal walk to the church was absolute cinema. No rushed taxis or last-minute scrambles, just pure, unfiltered elegance with a side of that untamed, almost rebellious romance. Every deep breath carried the weight of a million emotions, joy, excitement, maybe just the tiniest flicker of “Holy heck, I’m about to do this.” Her dad, steady and proud, beside her. A knowing smile, a silent “You’ve got this.”
The church ceremony was everything you’d want, emotional, personal, and full of those cheeky little glances between Laura and Chris that make you melt inside. Vows exchanged, confetti thrown (mainly at Chris, let’s be honest), and with cheers from their loved ones, it was time to head to the reception.
Drinks, Portraits & Tipi Fun
Woodsome Hall Golf Club provided the most picturesque backdrop for the day. Guests sipped drinks outside the gorgeous clubhouse while we snuck off for those all-important gorgeous couple shots. Then, because we love a little adventure, we snook away for ten minutes of uninterrupted portrait magic.
And let’s talk about the reception setup, an epic tipi supplied by the amazing Garden Wedding! If you’re thinking about a tipi wedding, take this as your sign: DO IT. It was the perfect space for guests to mingle, play lawn games, and soak up the celebratory vibes.
The kids at Laura and Chris’ wedding were absolute stars! From mischievous giggles to adorable rough and tumbles, they brought so much energy to the day. I love getting on their level, making them feel comfortable, and capturing their natural personalities. Speeches, Aussie Hats & Belly Laughs
Laura & Chris’s friend, James – AKA MC, in true Aussie fashion, rocked a cork hat, this was a moment. It set the tone for the most hilarious, heartfelt, and slightly embarrassing speeches that had everyone in stitches. From childhood stories to emotional tributes, it was the perfect mix of laughter and happy tears.
Sunset (Or Lack Thereof) & Golf Buggy Adventures
After the wedding breakfast, we had grand plans for golden hour portraits. The sun, however, had other ideas. Did that stop us? Not a chance. We hopped into the golf buggies and zipped off to the course for some beautifully moody, romantic shots. Sometimes, the best images come when the weather does its own thing!
Let’s Get This Party Started
And then, the party. The tipi transformed into a buzzing dance floor, guests throwing their best moves, drinks flowing, and the atmosphere electric. If there’s one thing Aussies and Yorkshire folk have in common, it’s knowing how to have a proper good time.
Laura and Chris, your day was an absolute dream to capture. From the heartfelt moments to the uncontrollable laughter. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness, adventure, and plenty more pub trips before big life events!
