Emma & Tom’s Autumn Hooton Pagnell Hall Wedding
Emma and Tom’s Hooton Pagnell Hall South Yorkshire wedding had all the ingredients needed for a timeless celebration. They made their big day come true with flawless execution. And what a setting they chose! The historic estate provided the perfect backdrop with its lavish interiors and stunning grounds. These two opted for an Autumn Yorkshire wedding. They transformed their celebration into a cosy experience, brimming with autumnal tones and heartfelt gestures that left everyone feeling invited, truly valued, and cherished. Emma and Tom had an epic day celebrating with all their family and friends at Hooton Pagnell Hall; I was lucky enough to photograph it for them. Set in autumn, Hooton Pagnell estate comes alive with gorgeous tones. And boy, did it rain; it was a soggy one. However, it did not in any way dampen the spirits of the day. It added to it, if anything. I am adept at photographing in any condition, so as long as you don’t mind getting out in it with the brollies, it makes for fantastic imagery. Hooton Pagnell Hall is great for wet weather, the greenhouse is stunning for portraits, and many nooks and crannies shelter you for epic imagery. It’s me who usually ends up wringing out my Rain Mac and hair..hehe.
When photographing weddings at Hooton Pagnell Hall, I love the versatility it offers. From the stunning greenhouse to the impressive gardens, it’s perfect for relaxed wedding portraits. The Hall has two facades: the Main Hall has an old English county feel and overlooks the gorgeous lawns, while the opposite side has a castle-like facade. I particularly love the old wooden panelling inside the main house; it’s a stunning spot for a window-lit portrait. Emma’s bridle’s portrait is simply breathtaking, and Emma looks so regal framed within the timeless oak panels in the main house. Photographers always appreciate window light as it creates excellent portraits. There are many choices for the ceremony, including the Norman All Saints Church, The Summer House, or Pavilion. The Tithe Barn is an impressive spot for the celebration and gives a different feel to the whole day, which can continue into the evening for the party to let rip!
If it rains (especially for weddings in South Yorkshire), I advise you to simply EMBRACE IT, like what Emma and Tom did. Here are some of my top tips. Ask the venue if they provide brollies. If they do not, buy some sizeable white wedding brollies. Also, think about getting some lovely clear ones for the portraits. Here is a link for good old Amazon ones. Ask your venue where the drinks reception will be if it is wet outside so you don’t need to worry about what the weather does.Speak to your venue and see if they have a pretty area for group images if we can not do this outside – somewhere with plenty of space and where we can access them easily. A good venue will move furniture and help. I often move furniture around if the room is cluttered to find the best possible space. If we have heavy rain on your day, it’s best to be flexible. It will be more tricky to capture everything than good weather, so go with the flow. Let your guests know we may even do the odd group shot between courses if necessary.Hopefully, the rain will break soon so we can go out for portraits; if not, we can use the brollies. Emma and Tom loved using their umbrellas, and they made great images. Boy did we have fun. Please don’t feel sad it’s raining; we can still get some fantastic images outside, and your portraits will remain unique. How you react will show up in your pictures, so go with it, have fun with your brollies, and embrace the rain.

Hooton Pagnell Hall, located in the picturesque South Yorkshire countryside, is a stunning wedding venue combining rich history and timeless elegance. This historic estate dates back to the 13th century and is nestled in the heart of the quaint village of Hooton Pagnell. The Hall boasts beautiful gardens and breathtaking views, making it an idyllic setting for a wedding celebration.
